Fredric M. Knapp was appointed Morris County Prosecutor by Governor Chris Christie on June 27, 2014 following confirmation by the New Jersey Senate. Previously, he was serving as Acting Morris County Prosecutor and Assistant Attorney General beginning on December 14, 2012.
Prior to his appointment as Prosecutor, Mr. Knapp served as a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice from 1979 to 1983 in the Appellate, Trial and Casino Prosecution sections.
On April 1, 2013, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp appointed John R. Speirs to the position of Chief of Investigations.
Chief Speirs joined the Boonton Township Police Department in August 1977 and served the township for 33 years as a law enforcement professional, rising through the ranks to the position of police chief in 2004.
