Eugene Baum Jr. Faces 60 Years in Jail for Deaths of Two Teens
Thursday, February 18, 2010Eugene Baum Jr. was found guilty today of the aggravated manslaughters and vehicular homicides of two cousins he killed in a drunken driving crash in Kinnelon in 2006.
Baum, 48, of Dover, now faces up to 60 years in state prison when he is sentenced on March 26 for causing the deaths on April 20, 2006, of pedestrians Athear Jafar, 16, of Jefferson and Mayada Jafar, 15, of Kinnelon.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq. stated:
"We are elated that we were able to secure a conviction on all charges on behalf of these young children who needlessly lost their lives and their families who must live with this despicable and senseless tragedy. We will be seeking the maximum period of incarceration of 60 years at the time of sentencing."
